West Coast Baptist College student
Finishing registration
The second day or registratio at WC takes care of class scheduling and ministry assignment and sometimes finances. This semester I’ll be in English, US History, Bible Structure, Romans, Speech and private music lessons. My ministry assignment is 4th grade boys’ Sunday School with Bro. McGarry. They give you a little bit of leeway with the classes that you want to take, but I have a pretty standard class schedule for a freshman.
I also auditioned for Mrs. Wall, the college orchestra director, and will at least for a little while be an orchestra practice pianist on Wednesdays. I believe that the choir pianist is hand-picked, but the choir and orchestra practice seperately, so they have several pianists for daily practice. I saw Mrs. Wall after the Wedesday evenin service (in which Dr. Ouellette preached a great message on bitterness, I’d encourage you to watch it on www.lancasterbaptist.org in a few days) and asked her if they had any openings. A few minutes later she had me play for her, then hemmed and hawed and said “Well, why don’t we try it for a while.” (I actually messed up pretty badly, so if you want to get involved here, it seems like they will let you if you just ask ) I will be auditioning for Bro. Jon Guy pretty soon for chapel piano, so pray for me, I want to do well. Chapel piano is much more my field, I have almost no experience with choir accompaniment.
Moving to Thursday morning, Dr. David Gibbs preached an incredible message on Humility and Greatness in chapel this morning, very powerful, and the Lord used it to help me.
So far college has been a whirlind of incredible, first-time, encouraging, fun, exciting ana powerful things; it’s better than I imagined! If you are even remotely considering going to Bible college, it’s worth it, it’s worth it!
